Bob Slattery, President and CEO of ReachUSA, has a long track record of local entrepreneurship and investment into the Greater Cincinnati business community. Slattery is a Cleveland native and graduate of Miami University, where he studied business and earned a Master’s degree in marketing/communications.

Post college, Slattery and college roommate, Robert Wolfe bought the Cincinnati Valpak® franchise, and in time expanded their territory to become one of the largest Valpak operations in the country. Slattery and Wolfe founded franchisor Reach® Magazine in 1983. Later, Wolfe sold his stake to Slattery to pursue other interests.

Slattery owns and operates a diverse group of companies, most in the advertising and media fields. ReachUSA is a media marketing company, which sells mass targeted traditional print consumer magazines including Reach Magazine and The Super Shopper Magazine®. Slattery’s niche editorial product Housetrends®, an upscale home and garden magazine, circulates in Greater Cincinnati and several other US markets. Cincinnati Profile, an online lifestyle publication targeted to business professionals, has recently joined forces with Cincinnati’s premier online women’s publication CincyChic (pronounced “sheek”). The continued online success of CincyChic, as well as the opportunity to cover both male and female centered audiences throughout Greater Cincinnati, allows for Cincinnati Profile to expand its audience through increased frequency, video and article resource information.

For the past five years, the ReachUSA internet development team has been expanding online services to clients, creating the Profile Digital Media brand, which helps small and medium sized businesses grow through a full suite of online digital solutions specifically tailored to each client’s needs, including website design/development, social media, hyper-local search engine pages, digital coupons, and email and text messaging campaigns. A major facet of the Profile Digital Media brand is YoDeal, “local deals, local causes.” YoDeal is a unique, charity-based daily deal site, which supports local charities while offering consumers deals at local businesses.

Slattery’s entrepreneurial spirit does not stop there. He is also founder of Perimeter Technologies, Inc., manufacturer/retail sales/and installer of Pet Stop® electronic pet containment fencing systems. Pet Stop holds several key patents in the industry which has helped it expand coast to coast with over 160 dealers (Article: Runaway Hit: Electric pen may be mightier than the cord). In June 2009, Perimeter Technologies introduced the Wifi Dog Fence – the first pet fence on the market employing the hottest micro-chip transceiver technology keeping pets in their yards without wires!

Meanwhile, Slattery was working a little closer to home in Cincinnati with the local Pet Stop office to develop and open WagsPark®, a one-of-kind world class private dog park, offering 3-acres of fun and fitness for dogs and their owners (Article: Dog Fancy Magazine). Taking the dog-focused business to the next level, the Wag-O-Mat Shell Station, located next to WagsPark opened in 2009. The Wag-O-Mat offers four exterior self-service dog wash stations. Wagspark also includes WagsPark Spa, a head to toe spa for dogs, including professional bathing, grooming, skin and fur treatments, therapeutic massage, and more. Plans for the expansion of the WagsPark/WagOmat/WagsPark Spa business model through a licensing arrangement is slated for the summer of 2012. Also under development is the Wag-O-Mart, an internet based superstore. Shop the industry’s most trusted and reliable pet products at low low prices.

His diverse umbrella of businesses includes a national full service travel agency Cruise World Travel/Cruise 800®, rated by Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Lines as a Top U.S. agency in cruise service. Vacation 800 serves as the lifestyle and honeymoon land-based vacation specialists of the agency, and is locally recognized as a Delta Vacations® “MLT Star” agency for 2010. Cruise 800/Vacation 800 is accredited with all the major national and international travel networks such as CLIA, ARC & IATAN. Plus, Slattery added his name to the list of local restaurateurs with the creation of two new restaurants, Slatts Pub, located in downtown Blue Ash, and Hahana Beach in Mariemont (both suburbs in Cincinnati). Slattery was a Finalist in the Marketing Category in the Ernst & Young Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Entrepreneur of the Year in 2006. In 2008, Slattery was named 2008 CEO/Executive of the Year for the Northeast Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce. Also, ReachUSA has been a member of the Deloitte Cincinnati USA 100 and the Business Courier 250 largest privately held companies for the past five years.

Slattery has been involved with several Greater Cincinnati charities. Slattery served as president of Tennis For Charity, Inc. (TFC) from 2001 through 2004, and had been a board member for two decades. TFC has been active in the development of what is now the Western & Southern Open, which has contributed over 7 million benefiting Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Tennis for Inner-City Youth and The Barrett Cancer Center.

His professional sports marketing experience and charitable mission led Slattery to create Reach Event Marketing (REM), LLC. REM brought the return of the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) to the Greater Cincinnati area. The 2005 AVP Nissan Series, and 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 AVP Crocs Tour Series, were all held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. More than 150 of the top professional beach volleyball athletes, including Olympic gold medalists, competed in this ultimate sports and entertainment experience. After the demise of the AVP in August 2010, Slattery and his REM team assembled the top 16 players (8 men and 8 women) to kick off the Players Championship for the grand opening of The Hahana Beach Event Center over Labor Day weekend. In 2011 USA Volleyball sanctioned Hahana Beach Cincinnati as the new home for the pretigious US Open of Beach Volleyball (articles: National volleyball tourney leaves beach for Tri-State and U.S. Open of Beach Volleyball set for new stage in Cincinnati). Tournament proceeds benefited Cancer Free Kids, the Barrett Cancer Center and women’s heath initiatives in Cincinnati. REM is honored to have been able to donate over $100,000 to The Barrett Cancer Center to date. REM also organized and served as the underwriter for the 2004-2006 i-wireless® FOX 19 Prep Classic high school football competitions at Paul Brown Stadium. REM made a combined $300,000 donation over the three years which was split amongst the Cincinnati charities: Anthony Munoz Foundation, Cris Collinsworth ProScan Foundation and the Marvin Lewis Community Fund.

In the spring of 2008, REM expanded their event marketing beyond the sports arena to the bridal industry with the acquisition of -->Wedding Mafia, a unique alternative to the typical bridal show. It introduces brides-to-be to an intimate group of elite wedding vendors in the area. This successful foray into the bridal business got the attention of Cincinnati Wedding Showcase and in June 2009, the event became part of REM. Though the Showcase is a much larger, once-a-year event, it fits well with the Wedding Mafia and the event marketing experience of REM.
